Slavkovice, poutní kostel Božího milosrdenství
The Pilgrimage Church of Divine Mercy and St. Faustina is located in the village of Slavkovice which is a local part of Nové Město na Moravě. The modern church is one of the newest church buildings in the Vysočina region. The remarkable structure represents two opening rays emanating from the heart of Jesus. It combines elements of wood, white plaster, and glass panels. The dominant feature of the church is a symbol of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In front of the entrance, there is an outdoor altar and a stone paten gathering water falling from a bevelled roof. The slender wooden bell tower is decorated with the emblem of the Virgin Mary. The central point of the interior is a sculpture of the crucified Jesus and a tabernacle shaped as a host. Inside the church there is a case with the remains of St. Faustina. Large coloured stained-glass windows symbolizing water and blood of the Christ's open side and the Holy Spirit in fire and wind are highly visible. Another remarkable stained glass is in the confessional, showing the penetration of God’s mercy into the sinner’s heart. The beginnings of the pilgrimage tradition here dates to 2003 and since then there has been an increasing number of pilgrims coming from all corners of our country and from abroad.
