Příbram-Svatá Hora, The Stations of the Cross Back

Cloister Church

Information

The Stations of the Cross represent the way Jesus in Jerusalem from his being sentenced to death to the crucifixion and the burial.
Similarly to other famous European places of pilgrimage, the Redemptorists had the intention to build the Stations of the Cross with statues made of bronze . But, the Second World War broke out so that there were only wooden crosses at each station. The Stations of the Cross were destroyed during the communist time, and renovated in 2000. The renewed Stations of the Cross were consecrated in September 2000. On this occasion the composition called The Stations of the Cross of Svatá Hora by F. X. Thuri had its first run.
The Stations of the Cross of Svatá Hora is 800m long. There are valuable trees along it, for example plane-trees, red beeches, yew-trees etc.
