Pilgrimage routes of Toulava
Milevsko - Tábor Back

Information

Pilgrimage through a rolling landscape of pastures and meadows with views of the region around stone crosses and chapels.

We will start the pilgrimage in Milevsko. We will either visit the Church of St. Bartholomew in the square, or head straight to the Milevsko monastery. We can also get a stamp at the beginning of the trip in the info center.

The road will take us along forest and asphalt roads through the villages of Držkrajov, Přeštěnice and Dobřemilice to the meadows and forests of the Nadějkov region - areas of stone crosses.

In Nadějkov we find the Church of the Holy Trinity with a cozy parish garden intended for contemplation.

From here we will first set off along the road, then along the meadows and old roads to Jistebnice, where the church of the Archangel Michael stands (the Jistebnice cancional with Hussite songs was found at the local parish).

In Jistebnice, don't forget to walk along the Stations of the Cross to the Church of St. Mary Magdalene with beautiful views of the region.

From Jistebnice, a path leads us through meadows around the chapel of St. Anne with a view of the region to the crossroads "U Bejšova".

ATTENTION - here we leave the sign and continue straight along the forest road, along which we turn left at the next crossroads. The road through the forest takes us past the deer park, where we turn right to the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Starý Kostelec, which dominates the local region. It is the oldest church in Tábor.

From here we will go to Chotoviny. Here on a high hill stands the Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul. Not far behind the church begins the forest Stations of the Cross leading to Calvary.

From Chotoviny we walk to the town of Tábor with the Church of the Transfiguration on Mount Tábor, the monastery church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in the area of the former monastery of the Barefoot Augustinians and the church of St. Phillip and Jacob in Park Pod Kotnovem.
The Stations of the Cross along the green sign will take us to Klokoty, where we will pick up a pilgrim's certificate.

How to becoma a pilgrim
There are three pilgrimage routes and they connect the main pilgrimage destinations - Klokoty, the Mlevsko monastery and the Bechyně monastery. So you can choose whether to go from Tábor to Bechyně, from Bechyně to Milevsko, or from Milevsko to Tábor. Or, best of all, whether you miss the entire pilgrimage circuit, which measures over 100 km. But you can actually go from anywhere.
You become a pilgrim if you reach one of the three pilgrimage destinations (Klokoty, Klášter Bechyně, Klášter Milevsko) at least 15 km on foot (or 30 km by bike). In the pilgrim's office or other notebook, there must be a stamp of the church, parish or information center at least 15 km away.
If you walked and you prove yourself in one of the three destinations with this stamp, you will receive a pilgrim's certificate, each pilgrim will be placed on the list of pilgrims by writing in the pilgrimage book and will be remembered in prayers and at Holy Mass.
